Let’s Talk About Bridal Designers - Couture

As someone who studied Fashion Design and Merchandising, I can literally spend hours online looking at the latest bridal collections.

I thought it might be helpful to list my top 5 in each category (Couture, Mid Range and Budget). With so many wonderful options out there, it was a real challenge to whittle it down to five for each category, so here’s my list of finalists in the Couture category:

Couture

Do you have an extravagant budget? Here are my top 5 if-money-were-no-object bridal labels:

Elie Saab – one of my absolutely favorite wedding gowns is the one worn by Rose Leslie when she married Kit Harington. The lace, the tiny belt, the veil, everything about that dress and the accessories was perfection. Elie Saab’s gowns are the personification of bridal couture, with a stunning use of beading and lace.

Monique Lhullier – Lace is what Monique Lhullier is known for and oh my goodness, the laces she chooses for her gowns are some of the beautiful and delicate laces you can imagine. The epitome of romantic, her gowns have been worn by Reese Witherspoon, Sophia Bush and Carrie Underwood, just to name a few.

Carolina Herrera – Carolina Herrera launched her bridal line in the mid-80’s, shortly after designing Caroline Kennedy’s wedding gown, a timeless drop-waisted gown with 3 dimensional flowers on the bodice. Her gowns are classic and elegant. Some of her bridal clients include Renée Zellweger, Christina Hendricks and Emmy Rossum. Emmy’s gown was one of my favorites, simple in detail but with a unique neckline and gorgeous train.

Oscar de la Renta – another absolute favorite of mine, this designer epitomizes couture construction, using exquisite fabrics and laces. Oscar de la Renta has designed bridal gowns for Amal Clooney, Kate Bosworth and Jenna Bush Hager.

Galia Lahav – from romantic to downright sexy, Galia Lahav’s collection has something for everyone.  You’ll find romantic ballgowns, slinky beaded slip dresses that hug every curve and some unconventional but still stunning jumpsuits. With both a couture and mid-range lines, this bridal label offers a wide range of options in a good range of price points.
